Description:

Every Saturday in December!

Discover the science of the season.

Join us for hands-on explorations into incredible science that will open your eyes to the wonders of winter! From how polar bears have adapted to live in extremely cold conditions to the friction that allows us to skate across ice on blades, we’ll get to the bottom of this season’s shivering science. Included with general admission.

Arctic Activities:

  • Bringing Good Cheer
Looking for gift ideas for your friends and family? Take a note from the animal kingdom as you discover what they give each other as presents.

  • All is Bright
Behind the winter wonderland of white is an astonishing world of color! Come learn the science behind colorful winter lights.

  • Do You See What I See?
Some tell-tale signs of the holidays are the flora that we use to decorate, but how closely have you looked at these cool plants? Learn more about poinsettias, mistletoe, holly, and more by getting a closer look under the microscope

  • Ice Fishing
Lace up your boots and cast a line. In this activity, you'll go fishing... for ice! With a dash of salt and some science on your side, you're sure to reel in a big one.

Solstice Science Showcase:

at 11am, 1pm & 3pm
  • Baby, It’s Cold Outside
We know it is winter for several reasons: days get shorter, nights get longer, and the temperature drops. Let’s observe the differences with these “cool” experiments.

  • Making Seasons Bright
Learn more about the Aurora! Also known as the Northern or Southern Lights, this dazzling light show is best seen near Earth’s North and South Poles and is truly breathtaking.
