Description:

Celebrate National Engineers Week!

Watch as we bring engineering to life while helping you learn more about how engineers make a difference in our world. All activities are available from 1 to 4 p.m., and are included with general admission.

Plus, you won't want to miss our Engineering Day blowout celebration on Saturday!

Sunday, Feb. 18:

  • SNAP CIRCUITS
Learn more about the basics of electrical engineering while you build circuits and challenge yourself to add in switches, lights, and fans.
  • POWERFUL PYRAMIDS
Ever wonder why so many ancient civilizations built pyramids? These strong structures have been able to withstand the test of time! Engineer your own pyramid out of wooden dowels and see how big it can get.

Monday, Feb. 19:

  • LEGO MARBLE MAZE
Are you up to the challenge? Use LEGOs to build a maze that will successfully get your marble from start to finish.
  • UNCONVENTIONAL MATERIALS
Your challenge is to use binder clips, popsicle sticks, and clothespins to build a structure. Can your structure support the weight of a textbook?

Tuesday, Feb. 20:

  • MAKEY MAKEY
Learn how you can turn everyday objects into a keyboard for a computer. Can you use a banana instead of a space bar? What about some playdough instead of the arrows? Now you can!
  • POWERFUL PYRAMIDS
Ever wonder why so many ancient civilizations built pyramids? These strong structures have been able to withstand the test of time! Engineer your own pyramid out of wooden dowels and see how big it can get.

Wednesday, Feb. 21:

  • PAPER CIRCUITS
Light up your art! After drawing a picture, see how you can use a battery and an LED to add a light to your design.
  • CODE YOUR NAME
Learn about binary code, and then code your name onto a necklace to take home.
  • TABLETOP BALLOON TOWER
Test your architectural engineering skills! Using only balloons and masking tape, how tall of a tower can you construct?
  • UNCONVENTIONAL MATERIALS
Your challenge is to use binder clips, popsicle sticks, and clothespins to build a structure. Can your structure support the weight of a textbook?

Thursday, Feb. 22:

  • BUILD A ROOF
Use tinfoil and wax paper to make a roof for our house. Test your construction by pouring water onto the house. Did your tenant stay dry?
  • LEGO MARBLE MAZE
Are you up to the challenge? Use LEGOs to build a maze that will successfully get your marble from start to finish.

Friday, Feb. 23:

  • SNAP CIRCUITS
Learn more about the basics of electrical engineering while you build circuits and challenge yourself to add in switches, lights, and fans.
  • BUILD A RAFT
Use straws and tinfoil to build a raft, then test its capabilities on water. Can it support the weight of 20 pennies without sinking?
