Power on... all systems go!

Celebrate National Robotics Week with us! Come explore the wonderful world of robotics with exciting hands-on activities and demonstrations that focus on the basics of these machines and how to program them. Plus, you'll have the chance to meet some local robot expert-enthusiasts. Included with general admission.

Activities:

  • MINDSTORMS CHALLENGE
Use a LEGO® Mindstorms robot to complete some simple tasks while learning about programming, calculations and the engineering process.

  • BUILD A BOT
Start with the basics of robotic engineering with this introductory electrical project where you can make your very own tiny bot.

  • ZARPLOTTER
Check out our newest interactive floor exhibit, the Zarplotter! This drawing robot can bring your designs to life with its revolutionary plotting capabilities.

Live Science Demonstrations (12 & 2pm):

Meet TORQUE FORCE, a high school robotics team that includes members of Adventure Science Center’s Youth CR3W. Learn about the challenges they've come across in competitions while seeing their brilliant robots on display.

Community Groups:

  • Middle Tennessee Robotic Arts Society (MTRAS)
Enjoy the opportuntiy to meet MTRAS members, learn more about their ongoing projects (including upcoming robot combat events), and discover how to get involved with their organization, which meets at Adventure Science Center monthly.

ENGINEERED FOR DESTRUCTION (Jack Wood Hall)

Join MTRAS as they present their fifth insect weight combat robot event! This robotics competition will have you marveling at the creations of local makers and robotics enthusiasts as they face-off to see whose robot is truly engineered for destruction. Battles begin at 11:05am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm.

There’s plenty of room for spectators, but if you are interested in competing with your
Antweight, Beetle or Fairyweight robot, contact MTRAS for more information. The competition will follow SPARC rules and judging criteria. Registration fee is $10 per robot and goes to help MTRAS fund a new arena. This fee is payable on day-of the event to MTRAS/MAKE Nashville.

  • FIRST LEGO League
Team Divergence will be demonstrating and displaying their robotics projects and sharing about their experience competing in robotics challenges aimed at developing solutions to real-world scientific topics.
