BOOM! SPLAT!! KAPOW!!!

Come join the ASC Crew as we celebrate Watermelon Day with "explosive" activities highlighting the basic elements of physics, math and nutrition. 

Activities (included with general admission, weather-permitting):

  • Watermelon carving contest
  • Watermelon eating contest
  • Watermelon splat demonstration
  • Watermelon Goop!


Did you know...

  • Watermelon is 92% water.
  • Watermelon's official name is Citrullus Lanatus of the botanical family Curcurbitaceae. It is cousins to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash.
  • The world's heaviest watermelon was grown by Lloyd Bright of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 2005, weighing in at 268.8 lbs.
