  • Penguin Relay Race
    Gather the family and get ready to race! Can you waddle your egg across the finish line first?
  • Ice Fishing
    Ever wonder why there’s salt on the road when conditions get icy?
  • Arctic Animal Adaptations
    Learn about a wide variety of physical and behavioral adaptations of Arctic and Antarctic animals, including arctic foxes, penguins, whales, and more!
  • Igloo Architects
    Test your skills as an engineer and see if you can build an igloo using our unusual materials.
  • Holiday Movie Magic
    Take a look at how science plays into two classic holiday movies – Home Alone and A Christmas Story.

Step into the toy laboratory and experience some of the year’s best STEM toys and activities we have to offer! Explore Geomags, Snap Circuits, Ruminate, and more, all of which you can purchase in Spark! Science Emporium.

Digi-Dissection 
Ever wonder what makes our holiday toys tick? Come dissect, modify and hack the electronics of some classic toys to see the inner workings for yourself!

Amazing Auroras
Discover the “how” and “why” of those colors in the night sky, the Auroras! Also known as the Northern or Southern Lights, we’ll find out more about one of nature’s most beautiful winter light shows.

Shivering Science Show
How cold is “cold?” What is needed to make snow? Can you tell the difference between real snow and fake snow? Check out these “cool” experiments, are you a snow expert?

Special Activities (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.):

  • Resolution Wall: The Science of Keeping a Resolution
    Research has shown that about half of all adults make New Year’s resolutions. However, fewer than 10% manage to keep them for more than a few months. Come explore the behavioral science of being able to stick to a resolution, and make your own resolutions to hang on the wall for everyone to see!
  • Party Shaker & Party Hat Workshops
    What’s a NOON year celebration without a little bit of noise and some fun hats?! Build your own noise shaker and party hat, and get ready to have some fun ringing in the NOON year.
  • Bernoulli’s Principle
    Explore the important scientific principle that makes both flight and fireworks a reality.
  • When the clock strikes 12…
    Who says the party has to stop at noon? Make a fun NOON year necklace to keep the clock at 12 all day long!
  • How do fireworks get their colors?
    Check out the chemistry behind the awesome colors and effects that we see in the fireworks we love so much!

STREAMER CELEBRATION @ NOON
3… 2… 1… HAPPY NOON YEAR! You don’t want to miss the fun as our Youth CR3W showers the crowd with streamers and confetti! It’s a celebration you won’t soon forget.
