LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS

SOUND OF SCIENCE

Hear and see how vibrations are formed through an interactive presentation that demonstrates frequency, amplitude, and the journey of sound. See an example of the McGurk effect and challenge your students to make sense of the sounds they are hearing.
Science Standards: 6.ESS2.6

STEM LEARNING LABS

CHEMISTRY IS A BLAST!

Students will get to observe different chemical reactions and learn about what observable traits distinguish a chemical reaction. Students will learn about the Law of Conservation of Mass, mixtures, and pure substances. (Capacity: 30 | Length: 50 minutes)
Science Standards: 7.PS1.3, 7.PS1.5

COW EYE DISSECTION

Examine a cow’s eyeball; compare its muscles and fat; cut it open to find its parts; follow the path of light all the way to the optic nerve; and learn how the eye sends information to the brain. A non-refundable lab deposit of $50 and 4-week advance booking is required. (Capacity: 30 | Length: 50 minutes)

AMUSEMENT PARK PHYSICS

Students use engineering and collaboration skills to build an amusement park attraction and learn how potential and kinetic energy transfers in a closed system. With a little algebra, they can even estimate the top speed of their coasters. (Capacity: 30 | Length: 50 minutes)
Science Standards: 6.PS3.1, 6.PS3.2, 8.PS2.2, 8.PS2.3

SPRAWLING SPECIES

In this program, students will discover the difference between a native animal and an invasive species, meet a native ambassador face to face, and explore, through a game, the consequences of introducing a new species into an established habitat. (Capacity: 30 | Length: 50 minutes)
Science Standards: 6.LS2.1, 6.LS2.2, 6.LS4.1, 6.ESS3.3, 7.LS1.6, 8.LS4.4

MICROSCOPY

In this special lab, students engage in introductory light microscope uses in a laboratory setting. Students will view prepared slides as well as learn to create their own. (Capacity: 30 | Length: 50 minutes)
Science Standards: BIO2.ETS2.1
