Position Overivew

This position is responsible to assist guests with one or more of our exhibits. Facilities Technician II (full-time)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facilities Technician is a member of an essential team of professionals who maintains the care and maintenance of a 100,000 square foot facility.  The Technician is responsible for multiple tasks and duties that help the Adventure Science Center function seven days a week. The Technician will perform tasks ranging from simple daily routine to complex projects. 

JOB ESSENTIALS

With the direction of the Manager:

  • Conducts daily inspection of facility and equipment. Communicate with team to identify promptly any damage, malfunctions, or wear in building equipment or facility.
  • Assists with the general maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment including HVAC Systems, and Pneumatic systems.
  • Assist with the set-up and tear down of tables, chairs, AV, laptops, projectors, and decorations for Special Events, Public Programs, and Facility Rentals.
  • Troubleshoot repair of mechanical, and electrical systems.

QUALIFICATONS

  • Education requirement of High School diploma or equivalent. Post high school course work preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred
  • Physical demands include event equipment and activity set up, walking, carrying, and standing during events.  Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and move supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and 100 lbs. assisted.

Floor Presenter - Adventure Guide (part time)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is a PART TIME position.  It is responsible for presenting activities in an exciting and enthusiastic manner for museum guests.  Effective communication skills, commitment to guest experience, and a passion for learning and sharing the principles of science, technology, engineering and math are essential attributes for this position. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Present a variety of educational floor programming, including but not limited to daily science demonstrations, exhibit-gallery focused activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of museum exhibits and program content, including temporary exhibitions and related public programming.
  • Report technical, maintenance, safety, and security needs on museum floor to the appropriate staff members and departments.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma
  • Current college students and those with completed college coursework will be given preference
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with presenting to small and large groups
  • Prior experience working with children and families is preferred
  • Theatre/improv training or experience is a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and teaching while engaging with guests of all ages.

Reservation Sales Specialist (part-time may lead to fulltime)

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a individual to join our sales education team who has a positive attitude, highly motivated and comes with some sales experience. This person is interested in working with a fast-pace team, improving their sales knowledge and complimenting a growing segment of our business. This position is being offered as a part-time position, however, with the right person has the potential to become full time.

The Sales Support Reservationist position is responsible for booking all reservations for programs sold at ASC including groups, schools, birthday parties, tour groups, and community groups planning visits to ASC. The position is responsible for all proper record keeping, costs, billing and revenue received by reservations. SSR anticipates guest needs and solves issues or concerns with a positive, courteous, respectful, professional attitude. In addition, the SSR communicates efficiently with all the respective departments involved in the respective group visit. Currently this role is a part-time position with possibility of growing into a fulltime position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Caretaker of the reservations phone line ensuring the highest standards of guest service
  • Accurately schedules and maintains all reservations in the Altru system
  • Communicates with teachers, group leaders and individuals to answer all questions
  • Knowledgeable of school programs and work closely with sales lead to recommend appropriate programs
  • Works with other department managers, education, camp program, accounting and events
  • Communicates effectively with multiple departments, facilities, education etc., and ensuring preparation for guests to have a smooth and enjoyable experience at ASC
  • Maintain accurate and current financial and attendance reports regarding group arrivals, events, class and camp registrations
  • Send invoices and post payments for scheduled reservations/registrations
  • Invoice schools for additional payments due after their visit
  • Balance end-of-day payments and turn in Batch reports
  • Maintain organized reservation files and accurate database records, documenting all changes and updating files as needed
  • Establishes and manages systems, databases and rosters for efficient bookings and intake process for upcoming visits and reservations
  • Help with school check-in as needed

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Summer day camp staff (seasonal)

POSITION OVERVIEW

Camp at Adventure Science Center provides a wide range of science enrichment programs for youth ages 5-12.  Programs combine science, technology, engineering and math in ways that encourage kids to actively discover and examine concepts for themselves. We inspire a life-long passion for learning and teach kids creative problem-solving skills, teamwork, persistence and follow-through in a fun learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Encourage a positive learning environment, fostering passion for science and Adventure Science Center.
  • Supervise and interact with campers, facilitating activities and experiments with a focus on scientific content
  • Identify the needs of campers and guests and work to make each experience a positive one
  • Delegate tasks to in room volunteers while creating a positive experience
  • Proactively engage campers in personal, inspiring interactions
  • Anticipate campers needs and solve guests issueswith a positive, courteous and professional attitude
