Adventure guide - soundBox (part time)

Position overview:

In summer 2019, Adventure Science Center is opening a brand-new permanent exhibition exploring the concepts of music and sound. The primary responsibility of this position would focus on engaging guests that enter this new exhibit, presenting exciting demonstrations related to music and sound, and facilitating hands-on activities with those guests. These interactions will explore the relationship between pitch, frequency and amplitude; and engage visitors in the technology used to record and transmit sound. This prole requires strong communication skills, a commitment to guest experience, and a passion for learning and sharing the principles of science, technology, engineering and math – specifically through the lens of music.

Essential job functions:

Present a variety of educational floor programming, including but not limited to daily science demonstrations, exhibit-gallery focused activities, Discovery cart activities and other programs focused on daily museum visitors. Primary domain would be in exhibit space to focus on music and sound interactions.

Engage with guests of all ages through the organized programming (i.e. science activities, demos), while also connecting to the existing exhibits and responding to guest needs.

Maintain current knowledge of museum exhibits and program content, including temporary exhibitions and related public programming.

Report technical, maintenance, safety, and security needs on museum floor to the appropriate staff members and departments.


  • High school diploma
  • Current college students and those with completed college coursework in Music Education, Music Production, Music Composition and/or Music Theory will be given preference.
  • Prior experience working with children and families is preferred.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Summer day camp staff (seasonal)


Camp at Adventure Science Center provides a wide range of science enrichment programs for youth ages 5-12.  Programs combine science, technology, engineering and math in ways that encourage kids to actively discover and examine concepts for themselves. We inspire a life-long passion for learning and teach kids creative problem-solving skills, teamwork, persistence and follow-through in a fun learning environment.


  • Encourage a positive learning environment, fostering passion for science and Adventure Science Center.
  • Supervise and interact with campers, facilitating activities and experiments with a focus on scientific content
  • Identify the needs of campers and guests and work to make each experience a positive one

Exhibit operator (part-time, seasonal)

We have an immediate part-time position open for a person who is confident, enthusiastic, energetic, possess good communication skills and capable of interacting effectively with the public. Gift shop responsibilities and duties:

  • Provide quality retail customer service through guest interactions and sales
