Effective February 1, 2014
At least one, but no more than two adult names must be listed as the Designated Adult(s) on each membership. When there are two Designated Adults on a membership, they must be members of the same household.
NOTE: We do not offer Memberships in the name of a child (under 17 years of age)
Memberships are non-refundable, and cannot be transferred or canceled before expiration. Memberships are for the exclusive use of those individuals designated on the cards coming from a single household.
NOTE: Cards presented by non-members are subject to confiscation.
Membership enrollment is accepted by phone 615-401-5057, at the Science Center ticket desk, and online.
NOTE: Affinity Discounts require verification of eligibility each year at time of purchase or renewal and are not available on-line.
Adventure Science Center is committed to making family learning accessible to more Tennessee families. Families that participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, WIC) and the Families First/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANP) program are eligible for the Adventure Access Pass. AFFINITY DISCOUNT ELIGIBILITY
TN Educator: Open to certified public/private K-12th grade school teachers, teachers at licensed/registered preschool facilities, independent home educators and faculty members of an accredited university or college.
Acceptable forms of Educator verification include: Faculty ID, LEA card, valid teaching license/certificate or recent pay stub. For independent home schoolers, copy of “Intent to Home School” form submitted to your local school district.
Military: Active Duty, Retiree or Reservist military ID card (DD Form 2 or 2A), Discharge papers (DD-214) or Military Dependent ID card (for spouse or children of Active Duty Military personnel) must be presented at time of purchase.
TN College Student: Open to students attending accredited Tennessee college or university. Please present current school photo ID at time of purchase.
NOTE: Affinity discounts require verification of eligibility each year at time of membership purchase or renewal. Limit one discount per membership. Not available on-line. Discount does not apply to Supporting memberships, Adventure Access Pass, multi-year memberships, add-on options or gift memberships.
Only children ages 2-18 living in your household are eligible to be included on your ASC membership. Full names and birthdates (mo/yr) for all eligible children must be listed on membership.
Grandparent Option allows grandparents who purchase a membership in their name to bring up to four (4) grandchildren per visit. A named grandparent must accompany child(ren) on each visit.
At least one Designated Adult must be present for any member visit. A Designated Adult must present membership card and proof of identity such as a valid driver’s license or other photo ID at the point of admission. The name on ID must match name indicated on membership. See Caregiver Policy for the only exception to this requirement.
Guests must be accompanied by a Designated Adult member cardholder.
Caregiver must be at least 18 years old. Caregiver is not a member but receives free admission when visiting with named Member Child(ren), only when the named cardholder is not present.
NOTE: Caregiver’s children are NOT covered under Caregiver Option.
When bringing children to the Science Center, EACH TIME the Caregiver must present: 1) valid membership card, e-confirmation or Membership Receipt showing Designated Adult name(s), address and CAREGIVER OPTION (actual or digital photo); and 2) ID of a Designated Adult named on the card.
Accepted forms of ID include: (photo copy or a digital photo accepted)
- Photo driver license
- Valid auto insurance card
- Unexpired passport
- Other government issued ID
Forms of ID not accepted include business cards, credit cards or personal notes.
When only one adult is designated on a membership only one membership card will be issued. When two adults are designated, two cards, each with both adult names, will be issued. This is for member convenience only, so that each adult can keep his or her own copy of the membership card. Please allow up to 10 business day to receive your membership cards or replacement cards. One replacement of lost or stolen membership card(s) will be complimentary. Any additional replacement cards will be assessed a $2 fee. No exceptions. We reserve the right to limit the number of times membership cards will be replaced in any given membership year.
FOOD AND DRINKS
Outside food or drinks are not allowed in the Science Center. Food and drinks may be purchased at the Subway located in the Skyline Café on the second floor. Visitors are welcome to enjoy brown bag lunches under the covered picnic area located off the lower parking lot.
FIELD TRIPS/GROUP VISITS
Membership admission does not apply to school field trips and group visits.
Visitors and Members assume all risks and responsibilities; Adventure Science Center disclaims all liability. Science Center Management reserves the right to refuse admission, control occupancy or eject any person(s), without refund, whose conduct is deemed to be disorderly, inappropriate or offensive. Adventure Science Center reserves the right to prevent or suspend visitation on days other than those announced for any reason, including, but not limited to, reasons of urgent repair or maintenance and acts of nature, without liability of any kind. Visitors and Members may not commercially use any photography, videography, or reproduction in any form taken during any visit to the Science Center without prior written permission. Visitors and Members grant irrevocable permission to the Science Center and its agents to use his/her image, likeness, and/or sound recordings in any media whatsoever and without compensation. Purchase of a membership or general admission ticket constitutes acceptance of these terms.

General Membership Questions
Q: How do I purchase Adventure Science Center (ASC) membership?
A: You may join at the front desk on your first visit, go online, or by phone at (615) 401-5057. You can also apply your admission tickets towards a new membership at the Guest Services desk (restrictions apply). (Back to FAQ)
Q: How long will my membership last?
A: A membership is valid for one calendar year from the date of purchase. Members receive an ASC annual renewal notice when it is time to renew a membership. (Back to FAQ)
Q: When I buy a membership, when may I begin using it?
A: Your membership is valid at the time of purchase and may be used immediately. If you purchase the membership online, you will receive a confirmation email, which may be used as your proof of purchase. If you purchase your membership at the front desk, you will receive a temporary receipt. If you purchase a membership by mail, you may begin using your membership upon receipt of your membership cards. Please allow at least three (3) weeks for processing if you join by mail. Q: What are the basic benefits of membership?
A: Core benefits include free unlimited General Admission for one year, free or discounted admission to 300+ ASTC museums (view details), half-price Sudekum Planetarium tickets, discounted workshops, labs, camps and birthday parties, and more! Q: Do I need to bring anything with me besides my membership card when I visit ASC?

Q: Are memberships tax deductible?
A: Our membership and Explorers Society levels qualify as a fully charitable deduction. The Caregiver add-on option is not tax-deductible. Below is a list of membership values for tax-deduction purposes. Consult with your tax advisor for more details.

Q: May I make changes to my membership after I have joined?
A: Memberships are non-refundable and cannot be transferred or canceled before expiration. Q: Can my membership have two different addresses?
A: No, memberships represent one household; members from separate households must obtain separate memberships. Only two adults of the same household may use the membership. (Back to FAQ)
Q: What forms of ID are accepted to qualify for an educator discount?
A: Acceptable forms of verification include: Faculty ID, LEA card, valid teaching license/certificate, recent pay stub, or a copy of your “Intent to Home School” form submitted to your local school district. Q: I am a home school parent. Do I qualify for the educator discount?

Q: May I bring guests to visit ASC with my membership?

Q: Is there a discount on membership purchases for military families?
A: Yes, a $10 military affinity discount may be applied to an Individual, Household or Premium Household membership. Active Duty, Retiree, or Reservist military ID card (DD Form 2 or 2A), Discharge papers (DD-214), or Military Dependent ID card (for spouse or children of Active Duty Military personnel) must be presented at time of purchase. Q: What is the Adventure Access pass and who is eligible?
A: Our Adventure Access pass provides the opportunity for economically disadvantaged Tennessee residents to visit ASC at a reduced rate. Guest add-ons and ASTC reciprocal privileges are not part of the Adventure Access pass program. To be eligible, an individual must provide a photo ID plus proof of participation in a qualifying program (WIC, SNAP, TANF) from the associated agency. Q: When will I receive my membership cards?
A: You should receive your membership cards in your mailbox within 2-3 weeks from the date of purchase. Please note, this may be prolonged during peak seasons. If you do not receive your card within that time, please contact our Membership Desk at email@example.com, or by phone at (615) 401-5057. Q: I’m a Member—why do I have to stand in line?

Q: What is the member price for tickets to visit Sudekum Planetarium?

Q: My child is coming with a school field trip. Is he/she able to use the membership?
A: ASC memberships, reciprocal membership, coupons, and special offers do not apply to school group visits due to the additional staffing, supplies, and materials required for field trip visits. (Back to FAQ)
Q: How may I keep up with member events and ASC programs?

Q: Do I need to R.S.V.P. for Member Events?

Q: May I give my membership card to friends or family members?

Each institution has its own admissions policy, so call before you visit to get the details. Reciprocity extends only to general admission—it does not include free admission to additional attractions such as special exhibits, planetarium shows, simulator rides or giant-screen films. It also does not usually include museum store discounts. Click here for link to a list of the ASTC reciprocating facilities along with more information about the program. Please familiarize yourself with all the rules applying to reciprocity with the ASTC Passport Program before you purchase your membership. Organizations may change their participation in the reciprocity program; we do not offer refunds due to changes in reciprocity.
Please note: Participating science centers must be 90 miles away from the Adventure Science Center in order to receive reciprocating benefits; the science centers in Murfreesboro and Tullahoma do not qualify for ASC members to receive free or reduced admission rates. (Back to FAQ)

Q: I am going out of town. How do I use my ASC membership?

Q: I’m visiting from out of town. How do I use my membership from another ASTC facility?
A: If you are a member from another ASTC museum visiting ASC, present a current membership card from your hometown museum or science center and a valid photo ID (showing home address within 90 miles of host museum). You will receive free general admission for up to two (2) adults and up to four (4) children (under 18 years old) in the same household. Q: May I use my membership at another local museum or science center?
A: No, to receive ASTC Passport Program benefits, you must reside more than 90 miles from the center/museum you wish to visit. The ASTC Passport Program is intended to reward families who support their local science center or museum by giving them a benefit they may use while traveling or visiting out-of-town friends or relatives. Q: How many family members will get in for free?
A: Each Passport venue has its own admissions policy (denoted by “F:” on the participants list) that lets you know which and how many family members receive free admission when you visit. It’s a good idea to review the admission policy before visiting so you know what to expect. ASC’s ASTC reciprocal policy includes free general admission for up to two (2) adults and up to four (4) children (under 18 years old) in the same household. Renewing your membership
Q: How do I know when my membership expires?
A: Your expiration date is printed on your membership card. Memberships to ASC are valid for one full year. As your expiration date nears, you will receive renewal notices via mail or email. (Back to FAQ)
Q: If I renew my membership before my expiration, do I lose months I had left?
A: Your membership runs an entire calendar year from the date of purchase. If you renew early, the new membership begins when your old membership expires. (Back to FAQ)

Q: How do I buy a gift membership for someone?
A: Gift Memberships are available at the Guest Services desk. You may also purchase a gift membership online or by phone at (615) 401-5057. Q: I do not know all of the gift recipient’s information. May I still purchase a Gift Membership?
A: Yes. We’ll provide you with postcard that you can give to the intended recipient. To activate their gift membership, they simply present that postcard on their first visit within 90 days of purchase, and our Guest Services Staff will collect all the information we need. (Back to FAQ)
Q: When may the recipient of my gift start using their membership?
