Art + Science

When science and art collide...

Who says science can't be beautiful?

From the geometric patterns found repeating in nature to the vibrations that create the sounds we hear, there's always beauty in science. Here at Adventure Science Center, we're working to expand the understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) education by creating more spaces for art to live throughout the science center.

Galactic Gardens Mural

by Eastside Murals

Take a walk around the Sudekum Planetarium to visit the Galactic Gardens, where you can witness the beauty of nature and space merging into one. Using species of flowers native to Tennessee, Eastside Murals drew inspiration from the Milky Way galaxy to create this massive mural.

Eureka!

by Emily Sue Laird

Step into Eureka Theater to see how local artist Emily Sue Laird drew inspiration from mathematics, science and art to create an incredible fractal mural that both reacts to different types of light and showcases the nuances of the visible light spectrum. With the help of 60 high school girls from the T.W.I.S.T.E.R. Conference and 12 middle school girls from our Art2STEM program, this piece of art has come to life!
