ARTstronomy

Adventure Science Center and Nashville After Zone Alliance (NAZA) have brought four local artists – Emily Sue Laird, Michaela Mondesir, Andrés Bustamante and Jake Wells – alongside Nashville’s youth to create artwork inspired by the aesthetic nature of outer space in a new ARTstronomy exhibit. These middle school students from Cameron, Coleman Community Center, Conexión Americas, and LEAD Southeast have created large-scale art pieces inspired by the beauty and whimsicality of outer space.
Andrés Bustamante, artist and founder of community arts organization Persona Contemporary, shares his experience as being a delightful opportunity to invest in young creative minds. “Watching their creativity come to life was wonderful,” says Bustamante. “The spark of awe and wonder for these children is something that greatly inspires me to continue the mission of Persona Contemporary; to empower diversity and inclusion in the arts community.”
Funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and Metro Arts Commission, the artwork invites guests to discover how our universe inspires art. Join us in celebrating this amazing achievement by local artists, scientists and community groups working together to provide unique educational opportunities for Nashville's youth!
