Adventure Science Center Blog

Science Educators and guest authors exploring our world and the science and technology that connects us.

If you haven't heard, Adventure Science Center is undergoing some major construction and renovation projects to pave the path for new exhibits and improved experiences... including in our preschool area! The current space is undergoing construction, but we've pulled together some ways to engage your preschooler in other exhibition areas while the space is closed.

1. Adventure Tower and Main Atrium

Physics of Light Reinforce color learning with our giant lite brite wall. The large pieces make it great for little hands to place and create their very own piece of art!

Tower Piano Just up the stairs from the entryway, little ones can engage with our floor piano, listening to the sound created using different keys.

Dino Rumble On your way to the third floor stop by and say hi to Rex, Adventure Science Center’s dinosaur, and talk with your young learner about what it must have been like when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Imagination Playground Build incredible structures and test your little one's engineering skills with our big blue blocks!

2. BodyQuest

Ambulance & Mini Med Center These areas provide great opportunities for imaginative play, where children can be an ambulance driver, paramedic, doctor, or patient.

Blood Stream Water Table The water table gives kids a chance to get their hands wet while exploring more about the body with an introduction to the components found in the blood stream.

Mouth Test your child’s hand-eye coordination while feeding the hungry mouth and learning more about what happens the food we eat.

3. Space Chase

Solar System Survey Orbit Path This floor exhibition is a great place to move and learn about how the planets orbit around the sun. Young children often find their way to this area and enjoy about the circles, following the different colors to learn about the paths of the planets.

Star Walk If your little one is comfortable in the dark, explore the star walk for a glimpse of what it would look like if you were to explore outer space.

IR Wall Don’t forget to check out your infrared image both before and after chasing your preschooler through the science center. What colors do you see where?

4. Third Floor

Bees The bees are must see for any young nature fan, providing a great tool for learning about pollinators.

Create an Insect This puzzle game is a wonderful opportunity to practice matching and/or imagination, as children reposition the magnets to create familiar or brand new insect species.

Gadget Games is another fun beat the clock style game that focuses on shapes and matching the block to the right home.

5. Outside

Galactic Gardens Be sure to step outside and take a walk to the new outdoor amphitheater, a great place to discuss the weather.

Rain Garden Check out the rain garden where we have many native plant species on display.

Please bear with us as we go through these changes.
