#WOMENSCIENCEWEDNESDAY by Molly Hornbuckle, Marketing Communications Manager

When I first took the reins of Adventure Science Center's Instagram, I wanted to do more than just provide science learning to our followers. That’s not how we do science at Adventure Science Center--our mission is to open minds to its wonder. I wanted to share science that inspires. I'm sure you know about the popular "Woman Crush Wednesday" hashtag, where people share stories and images of the amazing women in their lives, and I knew that was my in.

Thus, Women Science Wednesday was born.

Since that initial post on Jan. 7, 2015, I've highlighted more than 110 different inspiring women of a wide variety of educational and cultural backgrounds whose collective achievements span from as far back as 400AD to the current day. Wednesdays have become my favorite day of the week, because I get to share stories of the remarkable women who have sparked some sort of inspiration in me.

As a woman who didn't discover her love of science until college (thanks, Dr. Littmann!), it has been an incredible experience to see the response to these posts and to get to know the followers who comment on them.

But Instagram has its limitations, and I often find I’m forced to leave out some of the best parts of an incredible story. So, I'm excited to now be able to bring you Women Science Wednesday in a long-form blog!

Beginning next week, I'll be sharing stories of incredible, intelligent women of STEM once every month. Some blogs will further explore previously-featured #WSW women, while others will accompany a new Instagram feature.

Is there an inspiring woman in the sciences YOU want to learn more about? Leave a comment and I'll start researching!
