Cleaning procedures

As of May 2020, we have implemented updated preventative safety measures to ensure that you and your children are safe, and can focus on a fun learning experience with us. Using the best guidance available from local, state and federal public health officials in order to help protect our members, staff and community, below is an overview of protocols:

  • All employees will be required to wear a cloth mask. While masks for guests are not required, we strongly urge you to wear them whenever possible, especially in areas where other guests are present.
  • All members and guests are strongly encouraged to reserve admission tickets online. Admission will move to a timed entry model with limited capacity each hour. Walk-ups may be turned away without pre-registration.
  • 24 hand sanitizer stations and 10 disinfectant wipe stations will be available to guests through the museum.
  • Planetarium shows will be available with reduced seating to allow for social distancing between groups.
  • Signage throughout the building and verbal announcements will encourage guests to practice social distancing and hand washing. Please respect other guests’ space. While social distancing is not required, we ask you to strive to maintain at least six feet from others whenever possible.
  • All employees at service counters will be required to wear protective gloves.
  • Plexiglass shields will be placed at all active service counters.
  • Employees will disinfect service counters every hour.
  • Exhibits and public spaces will be disinfected during operating hours and at the end of every day with Spartan hard surface disinfecting wipes, Kimtech wipes and bleach.
  • Subway will clean tables and chairs as soon as they are cleared. There will be no self service drink or frozen yogurt available, but drinks and frozen yogurt will be available through a Subway team member.
  • We ask that all families monitor temperatures at home before coming to the museum when at all possible. If your temperature is above 100.4 or you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
