PHYSICS LABS & DEMOS

Amusement Park Physics

Get ready for a wild ride as we push Newton’s laws to their limits with these extreme coaster challenges. Along the way, we’ll demonstrate potential and kinetic energy, Newton’s second law of motion and more!
Science Standards: 6.PS3.1, 6.PS3.2, 8.PS2.2, 8.PS2.3

Lights, Camera, Science

From lights and cameras to animation and special effects, witness the remarkable science responsible for transforming ideas into cinema sensations.
Science Standards: 8.PS4, PHYS.PS4

Suminigashi Fluid Dynamics

You’ll learn the history and technique of the Japanese traditional method of Suminagashi, which uses surface tension and fluid mechanics to create marbling patterns. You’ll even create your own monoprints from floating ink!
Science Standards: PWC.PS2.15

Robot Dance Party

Explore code by programming a robot to dance! You’ll learn about functions, attributes and variables while working as teams to teach their robot how to cut a rug.

LIFE SCIENCE LABS & DEMOS

Scope it Out

Join us on a fantastic voyage as we learn the ins and outs of light microscopes, prepare our own slides and explore amazing worlds hiding in plain sight.
Science Standards: BIO2.ETS2.1

Cow Eye Dissection

Students will be asked to identify the parts of a plant. Students will learn how to identify what a pollinator is, and what it does to help the plant. Students will also identify that plants and pollinators have a symbiotic relationship and have adapted together. Lastly students will get to observe pollinators in their natural environment. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required.
Science Standards: Biology

Fetal Pig Dissection

In this hands-on program, explore the internal anatomy of a fetal pig. Make comparisons between pig anatomy and human anatomy, and learn how an organ’s structure relates to its function. Lab fee: $9 per student. A non-refundable deposit of $50 and three weeks advanced booking is required.

Biotechnology and You

How can you contribute to science using biotechnology? Jump in and investigate genetics and how DNA affects our lives.
Science Standards: BIO1.LS1, BIO1.ETS2

EARTH AND SPACE LABS & DEMOS

Rocket Challenge

Form teams to compete in a good old-fashioned rocket experiment! You’ll estimate the range of a rocket based on its thrust force and launch angle in order to accomplish challenges.
