WHY COME TO THIS CONFERENCE?
According to the American Association of University Women (AAUW), women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). To combat this inequity and inspire a life-long love of STEAM, Adventure Science Center is hosting our 19th annual TWISTER Conference. This event is a one-day STEAM conference for middle and high school students who identify as female.
We want you to leave this conference feeling informed, motivated, and empowered to pursue the STEAM career of your dreams. We partner with inspiring, professional women working in a variety of STEAM careers to share details about their careers, answer questions, steer you to the right educational pathways, words of encouragement, & much more! This conference brings middle and high school students together to embrace new challenges, ignite new career interests, and foster representation in the STEAM field.

HISTORY OF TWISTER
Developed in 2003, The Adventure Science Center’s TWISTER Conference has impacted more than 100 young women per year. Since 2003, more than 1,450 high school students have attended TWISTER and over 400 women have volunteered as presenters. Each year the conference continued to increase in participants until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020; leaving TWISTER to be postponed in 2021 and again, in 2022.
We are eager to bring back this lively, STEAM-based women’s conference in hopes of continuing to energize and inspire more individuals to pursue a STEAM-related career path. February 2023 will be our 19th annual TWISTER Conference, and we are thrilled to expand this empowering experience to grades 7th - 12th this year.
