EY Sensory Room

When Adventure becomes Overwhelming.

The EY Sensory Room is a space designed for those who may feel overwhelmed or overstimulated during their adventure. The space is outfitted with calming textiles, subdued lighting, tactile interactives, noise-dampening headphones, and other sensory-friendly elements.

The EY Sensory Room is located on the second floor between the Test Zone and Space Chase exhibits.

Additionally, Adventure Science Center was trained by leading medical professionals on how to recognize guests with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation. Sensory bags, equipped with noise-cancelling headphones (provided by Puro Sound Labs), fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads will also be available to all guests at the science center who may feel overwhelmed by the environment.

Rules of engagement are as follows:

  • One party allowed at a time. Simply slide the occupancy sign to "occupied" when you enter and "vacant" when you leave.
  • Please treat the space and materials with respect.
  • This space is specifically designated for guests experiencing sensory issues.
  • Please try to limit your time to 15 minutes unless granted permission by science center staff.

The EY Sensory Room was funded by EY and designed and outfitted by KultureCity.
