We have a full-time janitorial and maintenance staff. Every morning, a cleaning crew vacuums the entire facility, cleans the restrooms, and conducts deeper cleaning projects as needed. Our Adventure Guides and Guest & Member Services staff regularly wash their hands to help prevent the spread of germs and regularly walk through the galleries to pick up areas as needed.
Using guidance from local, state, and federal public health officials, we have implemented updated preventative safety measures to ensure that you and your children are safe and can focus on a fun learning experience. Below is an overview of our protocols:
- Numerous hand sanitizer stations and disinfectant wipe stations will be available to guests throughout the museum.
- Employees disinfect service counters daily.
- Subway cleans tables and chairs throughout each day.
- We ask that all families monitor temperatures at home before coming to the museum when at all possible. If your temperature is above 100.4 or you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
- We have upgraded our air filtration system and invested in technology to assist us in keeping the air and surfaces in the museum clean through an automated system, Puradigm, installed within our HVAC. The system adds both an extra layer of filtration and emits particles that neutralize viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungus in the air and on surfaces.
Puradigm®️ is the only pathogen management system of its kind to have been lab-tested for efficacy against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.*
- 94% reduction after 60 minutes.
- 98% reduction after 4 hours.
- Undetectable after 24 hours.
*The study was carried out independently by the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Biosafety Level 3 laboratory.
Procedures subject to change based on guidelines from the CDC and Metropolitan of Nashville Health Department.
Temporarily Closed/Out of Order
- Digestive Slide
- Much like the rest of the world, we are falling victim to supply-chain issues and are waiting on necessary replacement parts.
- Digestive Slide
- TestBed and MoonWalk are now closed as we have begun construction on Adventure Gallery. Click here to learn more about this exciting, permanent gallery opening this October.
Please note that we are working with limited staff and doing our absolute best to repair exhibits in a timely manner. We know closures can lead to dissatisfaction, and we are grateful for your patience and understanding.
You may leave and return the same day, provided you show your receipt to our security officer in the front lobby.
Photos and video for personal use may be taken inside the museum, with available light and electronic flash attachments. Tripods and lights may not be used. Publication or sale of photographs and videos is not allowed without museum staff permission.
Only qualified service dogs as defined by Title II and Title III of the ADA are welcome in the museum. We love our pets, but no other pets are allowed, even if they're in a stroller or bag.
We maintain a lost and found. If you have lost an item, you may check with the guest services desk to see if it has been returned. Unclaimed items become the property of Adventure Science Center after 30 days.
VISITS & PRICING FAQ
Currently, masks are not required.
We are hopeful that more widespread access to and adoption of the vaccine will further slide the scale in a positive direction, but we are prepared and willing to reinforce mandates as needed.
To learn more about vaccine availability - which remains free without proof of insurance for everyone 5 years of age and older - and appointments, visit covid19.tn.gov/covid-19-vaccines/availability/.
We also ask that visitors continue to practice social distancing and diligent hygiene practices but understand that COVID-19 vaccination is the most effective way to protect yourself, your family, and the community.
Thank you all for continuing to work with us as we all adapt to the ever-changing landscape of COVID-19.
Additional COVID Protocols
- Continue to social distance by allowing six feet of distance between your party and the next as much as possible.
- Wash hands thoroughly and use available hand sanitizer stations frequently.
- Sanitation wipes are also available in high-touch areas and we ask that you wipe down exhibits after use.
- Check temperatures and symptoms before traveling to the science center and do not visit if you or someone in your family displays signs that indicate the presence of COVID-19.
While weekday afternoons are typically quieter times to visit, we can’t guarantee any one day will be less busy than another as crowds vary depending on holidays, school vacations, weather, and a number of other factors.

It also does not usually include museum store discounts. View a list of ASTC reciprocating facilities and learn more about the program.
Please familiarize yourself with all the rules applying to reciprocity with the ASTC Passport Program before you purchase your membership. Organizations may change their participation in the reciprocity program. We do not offer refunds due to changes in reciprocity.

We often work with local media to get the word out about the many fascinating and exciting things happening here, so you may see a camera crew on your visit. We also have photographers on staff taking photos and videos for marketing purposes. If you are uncomfortable being on camera, please inform the member of our staff (designated by a lanyard and/or name tag) who is either taking the photos or accompanying the media so we can respect your wishes.
