Meet our instructors!

Carla Santa Cruz-Hearn (She/Her)

Hello! My name is Carla and I have been working at the Adventure Science Center since April 2025.  I’m originally from Arizona where I earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northern Arizona University and earned my master's degree from Grand Canyon University in educational administration. I was a fourth-grade public school teacher for 14 years. I left teaching three years ago and moved to Nashville with my husband and our three cats. I enjoy being able to continue teaching children of all ages to love learning about science!

Jason Moeller (He/Him/His)

Hi! My name is Jason, and I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I first found my passion for teaching science as a camp counselor at the St. Louis Zoo. I graduated from Indiana University (go Hoosiers!) in 2009 and stayed an extra year to earn my teaching credential. I worked as the School Programs Coordinator at Zoo Knoxville from 2010 to 2016, where one of my main responsibilities was teaching their homeschool program. After my wife and I moved to Nashville in 2016, I joined Adventure Science Center. I started the homeschool science program here in 2017. The thing I love the most about the Science Center is the different sciences I get to teach! My favorites are herpetology, paleontology and underwater robotics.

Jenna Edwards (She/Her)

Howdy! My name is Jenna. Originally from Western Maryland, I discovered my love of science as a child visiting the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. I came to Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee where I got my bachelor's in special education in 2016 and my master’s in deaf education in 2017. My husband and I moved to Nashville in 2017 where I worked as a special education pre-k teacher with Metro Nashville Public Schools for 7 years. I transitioned out of public education and began working at Adventure Science Center in May of 2025 to be able to spend more time with my children. My favorite thing about teaching at the Science Center is working with so many different age ranges.
