We want to congratulate one of our Youth CR3W members, Andy Gan, on winning 1st Place in the Medicine and Health Section of the Middle Tennessee Science and Engineering Fair (MTSEF) and placing in the top 3 overall. This recognition qualifies him to present at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) along with some of the brightest young minds in the world. ISEF is the world’s largest pre-college STEM competition. The competition takes place in Los Angeles, California May 11-17.

Andy has been conducting his studies at the Adventure Science Center for the past year under the guidance of Xavier Brown. His project, “The development of a low-cost delivery mechanism for Denatonium Benzoate on coin batteries as a deterrent against ingestion by children,” is focused on increasing public safety surrounding the dangers of coin batteries by developing a practical, low-cost solution for STEM educators everywhere to use in their programs.

We want to thank all of our members and guests who helped by participating in his research project and encourage you to cheer on Andy as he presents at ISEF in a few weeks.
